With lovely views and stunning grounds, Micklefield Hall is the ideal setting for your country house wedding or private party.
The venue has many facilities and is frequently used by companies as an exciting location for corporate fun days and team-building events. The house and grounds also offer a varied range of film location and photographic shoot opportunities, all conveniently located within the M25.
THE IDEAL COUNTRY HOUSE WEDDING VENUE IN HERTFORDSHIRE
Micklefield Hall is the perfect Country House Wedding Venue. The privately owned house and the extensive gardens - with their traditional herbaceous borders and enchanting water features - are yours exclusively for the day. Every wedding is tailor-made to suit the requirements of the bride and groom.
The beautiful marquee will seat up to 320 comfortably and is fully equipped with built-in toilets, adjustable lighting, suspended floor, stage, sound system and kitchen area. We recommend caterers or you can bring one of your choice and Jamie & Anna are on hand to guide you with the arrangements.
Micklefield Hall has a licence for Civil Ceremonies for up to 50 people in the house and unlimited numbers outside.
We have facilities available for many different kinds of event, large or small. With 30 acres of mown parkland in front of the marquee and the impressive house as a backdrop, we can provide a wide range of activities. We also have a 4 x 4 off–road course set in 6 acres of mature woodland adjacent to the parkland. All events are exclusively tailor-made to suit the client's exact requirements.
For smaller and more intimate corporate days, there is tennis and use of the house and gardens for team building and meetings. Conferences, dependent on size, can take place in either the house or the marquee.
Micklefield Hall offers a broad range of film location opportunities throughout the House, Gardens and Grounds. The house is part Georgian, part Victorian and there are extensive outbuildings, stables and barns. Ponds, fruit orchards and herbaceous borders form part of the stunning gardens. And, because of the Sir John Soane connection with Downing Street, many political films and television dramas have been shot here.
Set in 350 acres of farmland which includes 90 acres of mature woodland and the river Chess, Micklefield Hall provides a film friendly location where there is plenty of hard standing for full crew and facilities parking.
The house is set within the M25.
Micklefield Hall was built in 1740 and the central part of the house was then re-designed by Sir John Soane in the late 18th Century. Micklefield Hall stands in a fine parkland setting and yet is less than 25 miles from central London.
With historical records going back to 1260 when the land was obtained for the Abbey of St. Albans, the majestic oak in the parkland (officially dated by the Woodland Trust at 650 years old) and the stunning 16th century Tithe Barn, currently part of a major restoration project, Micklefield Hall provides a rich setting for any event.
The house is set in 350 acres of rolling Hertfordshire countryside. Managed and run by Jamie & Anna Rankin who live in the house, together with their four children, ensures that this elegant Georgian country house has a wonderful family feel. Micklefield is able to conjure up a magical mix of total privacy, exclusivity and efficiency which, when combined with the truly magical setting, makes it a perfect venue.
The house looks out over magnificent gardens and enjoys a stunning location just two miles from the Chorleywood exit (J18) of the M25.
It must be divine intervention because weddings have taken place on all the sunny days with Sunday being the warmest evening this Summer.
It has been a colourful season this year from 'English Rose' to 'Hot Africa' which has brought colour and excitement to Micklefield and joy to happy couples, their families and friends.
We have as many bookings for 2012 as we normally have by Christmas and so if you are planning a wedding or special event for next year please ring Anna or Jamie on 01923 778898 who will advise you with pleasure. Having said that we have Saturdays 10, 17 and 24th available for this September if you are looking for this year.
The renovation of The Great Barn is making good progress albeit a challenge for the architect and engineer to build a safe structure but retain the character of 500 years of movement and ageing. We are using 'Accoya', which is a specially treated wood with a 50-year guaranteed life, to clad the barn and it will be left to colour naturally with age. The north side of the roof will be on this month.
We hope to have approval for minor variations to the layout of the barn to enable us to complete the project and take bookings for Autumn next year. I have 3 people on the pending list so far!
Harvest time approaches and so let's hope for sunshine when Ron drives his combine into the oil seed rape crop.
The children will be home for the Summer soon. Happy holidays, Jamie
