Film Location FAQs

Micklefield Hall offers a broad range of film location opportunities throughout the Manor House, gardens and estate grounds. Here are a few of our film location FAQs and their answers. Please feel free to get in touch with us to discuss your requirements.

Are you a film friendly location?

Micklefield Hall is a very film friendly location with many years of experience. We are flexible and accommodating and love working with film location managers to ensure the best experience for everyone. We have a large variety of spaces from the Georgian manor house, to the restored 16th Century Tithe Barn, fruit orchards, ponds and river, giant oak trees and an agricultural, working farm. Our estate is made up of 350 acres of pasture land, manicured gardens, and mature woodland (carpeted in bluebells in the spring). We are very used to having large film productions being shot in our grounds and buildings.

Can I just turn up to have a look?

Micklefield Hall is a private estate and we only offer exclusive hire. Viewings are by appointment only and are offered at a mutually convenient time. Please contact our office to arrange a viewing and meet the team 01923 778898.

Have you got enough hard standing for location bases?

Yes, we’ve got extensive car parking facilities on site that makes a great film location base for all the large units and vehicles. We also have the farm estate that can take more vehicles if necessary.

Where is Micklefield Hall?

The manor house and farm estate are all based within the M25, just 2 miles from Junction 18 and 4 miles from Junction 20 of M25.

Have you hosted filming before?

Filming has taken place at Micklefield Hall for over 22 years, with adverts, films, documentaries, feature films, TV series and much more being filmed both in the manor house and in the surrounding grounds.

Do you have any period spaces?

The Micklefield Hall manor house is Georgian with a Victorian wing. The house was built in 1745 late and in the late 1700’s Sir John Soane re-designed the main hall and stair case of the Georgian part of the building, a great link to Downing Street. Micklefield Hall is therefore the perfect backdrop to many British political dramas.

Are drones and helicopters permitted to be used at your location?

Registered and insured drones are permitted to be used at Micklefield Hall and several films have been shot at Micklefield using drones. We also allow helicopters, with a designated flying space and the Micklefield estate is a safe flying space.

Can we use animals during filming?

Yes, animals of all shapes and sizes have been used in filming at Micklefield and these are permitted inside the manor house and the other buildings and land around the estate. Please speak to us about the use of animals as we are a working farm and so consideration is needed to ensure the welfare and safety of our livestock which includes pigs, cattle and horses.
