After an exceptionally long wait, the whole team was delighted to be able to turn the Great Barn‘s lights on, dust off the tables, light the candles and greet our wonderful couples. It has been such a long time since our barn has seen more than 15 guests and it was so heart warming to be back and seeing people enjoying Micklefield again.
Kalm Kitchen ~ exceptional wedding caterers
So, we came back with bang and put on quite a show for this tasting evening! In a line up that mimicked ‘boys vs girls’, the Kalm Kitchen and Micklefield teams sprang into action and safely delivered a full tasting evening within the current restrictions. We even had the man himself, co-owner of Kalm, James Middlehurst, cooking with his team in our kitchens.
The Kalm Kitchen menu was as delicious as ever and the Micklefield team paired the dishes with our carefully picked wines.
Dish highlights included the hot smoked salmon starter, lemon and garlic chicken breast for mains and the lemon tart which had a crispy top to it, reminiscent of a crème brûlée.
Confit duck leg Wild mushroom tart with poached egg Butternut squash arrancini Lemon & garlic chicken Beef & vintage ale pie Selection of canapes Hot smoked salmon Onion & goat’s cheese tatin Eton mess Kalm Kitchen brownie Lemon tart with raspberry sorbet
Dish after dish was served to our 14, socially distanced couples. They were seated along the beautifully laid, banqueting table, that stood proud as punch in the centre of our Great Barn. The Andrew Fleming team delivered a beautiful arrangement of pale blue and pink flowers nestled amongst white roses, laid upon greenery including eucalyptus. Rising high above this arrangement were the new gold candelabras that towered above the table, giving the table Beauty and the Beast vibes! And, adding a middle height, smaller individual, twisted, gold candle holders added even more to the display.
Josh from Kalm Kitchen, matched the pale blue corn flowers with pale blue napkins, tied in a knot and laid at an angle on the place settings. These arrangements, coupled with the dark blue menus, Lou Paper Design‘s place settings, purple glasses and gold cutlery gave the table a stunning array of colours and textures.
The Collective band brought a three piece arrangement and sang throughout the evening, providing smooth, jazzy back ground music.
