Living in the United Kingdom sadly comes with the never ending worry of ‘is it going to rain today?’. This is especially true when it comes to your wedding day. We don’t want rain to dampen your day (pun intended!) and hope that seeing our lovely May 2023 couple, Rebecca and Chris’ rainy Micklefield Hall wedding day will take away some of those worries for you.
The wedding ceremony
Rebecca and Chris had hoped for their early Summer wedding to be outside at our sensational temple. However, the weather had other ideas meaning the civil ceremony of 95 guests was held inside The Great Barn. Their florist Andrew Flemming dressed the space with stunning 4ft wreaths.
A ‘shower’ of confetti
The confetti moment is one of our couples favourite moments of their days. Their guests shower them in coloured bits of biodegradeable paper or fresh petals.
Rebecca and Chris’ guests lined up, using their umbrellas to shelter the couple from the rain. They achieved that special confetti moment on their way to their drinks reception in our marquee.
Pictures in the rain
After the UK’s very wet ‘Summer’, we have a great list of places which can be used for epic pictures. What you need is a photographer who is not scared of the rain – Sarah Legge is certainly NOT scared of the rain.
Rebecca and Chris still achieved their dream wedding album regardless of the weather, the smiles on their faces show that! We even got a sneak peak of Micklefield Hall’s own Anna, as she helped the bridal party across from the bridal suite to the barn for the ceremony.
The food
Wedding food is arguably (one of) the most important parts of the day! Rebecca and Chris chose to have their Wedding Breakfast in ‘banquet style’ seating. This meant their guests were seated along large, long tables rather than round tables. The tables were beautifully decorated by Andrew Flemming and laid by our partner caterers Kalm Kitchen.
The couple chose an olive green napkin and table stationary to complement their vibrant colour scheme.
Like the look of this Wedding Breakfast plan? We can do banquet style dining for your wedding if your guest numbers are 120 or less!
Emily Jane Cakes created the most beautiful 3-tiered cake for the couple. Andrew Flemming utilised heads of spare flowers from the bouquets and decorations to dress the cake. Yum!
The grounds
The Micklefield Hall gardening team work tirelessly to ensure that the gardens are looking their best even if the weather isn’t on our side.
Here is PROOF that regardless of the weather, our gardens are still perfect for your pictures.
We hope that seeing how stunning Rebecca and Chris’ day was, even with the rain, has put your mind at ease.
