Meet the Micklefield Hall Team

We would like to introduce you to one of our wonderful Event Managers, Izzy.

Izzy joined the Micklefield Hall Team in March 2023, and jumped straight into wedding season. We asked Izzy a few questions about her first year at Micklefield Hall and sneakily got some top tips for planning your wedding day.

Hello Izzy! Please tell us a bit about you…

Hello! Love/hate this question…Dogs have my heart, I am such a dog person (sorry to all the cat people!!) and just love being around dogs at home, in the office and on walks (although my partner might argue this one!). I love running, despite being frightfully awful at it (we are talking 50 minute 5k kind of awful) I love just getting outside, in the dark and running/walking. I also love baking, I think if I wasn’t an Event Manager I would open a cafe selling all of my baked goods (I am the Queen of brownies by the way). My friends would probably describe me as super organised and a total empath who loves having a laugh with friends, family, colleagues and couples.

What has been your favourite thing about being a part of the Micklefield Hall Team this past year?

I love working at Micklefield Hall, the beautiful commute into work everyday, the wonderful team in the office and on events, the fact there are ALWAYS multiple dogs in the office (even if they are stealing our lunches), the gorgeous couples and amazing suppliers that I get to work with daily. Is that too many favourite things?

What are your favourite wedding flowers?

SUNFLOWERS! I love them and think they are so underused. I just get so excited when I see Andrew Fleming bringing in bunches of Sunflowers ready for the wedding as I know they are just going to be so beautiful and they are complimented so well with so many other flowers like gypsophila. Here are some of my favourite flowers from last year.

What are your top 3 first dance songs?

Good question! I see so many wonderful dances, they are all fantastic for such different reasons. My choices are going to be random but bere with me… Number 1, My Girl by the Tempations. Number 2, September by Earth, Wind and Fire and number 3, You Make My Dreams (Come True) by Daryl Hall & John Oates. I love a fun first dance!!

What are your wedding planning top tips?

Oooo, so many! Number 1, PAPER CONFETTI (bio-degradable obviously), it just falls so much nicer than petals/dried flowers. Number 2, please please don’t get wrapped up in the weather. I totally understand that Micklefield Hall’s gardens are GORGEOUS and the thought of not getting your dream temple wedding can be disheartening, but the team will do everything they can to make your day as dreamy (plus have you seen how amazing Sarah Legge’s rain shots are?! Popped an example below). And number 3 I think would be to add personal touches to your day (and decor). One of my favourite memories this Summer was my team hiding rubber ducks around Micklefield Hall for the guests to find because the groom loved his cosplay ducks. So random but SO good, and the guests loved it. Or even pictures of yourselves through the years as your table numbers. It just adds so much to the day, makes it personal to you both and reminds everyone of why you are all there… TO CELEBRATE YOUR LOVE.

What is your favourite memory from 2023 at Micklefield Hall?

Oh goodness, there are so many to choose from. I am going to choose 3 sorry!

  1. Watching my first bride walk down the aisle to her husband at the temple. I remember trying to hard to be professional and not to cry but I just couldn’t believe how I had got to that moment and that my job was to create this couple’s dream day.
  2. Hiding the rubber ducks around Micklefield… need I say anymore?
  3. When Charlotte (Kalm Kitchen Event Manager) and I showed a GORGEOUS couple (you know who you are!!) in July the barn that was ready for their Wedding Breakfast and both the Bride and Groom burst into tears. I remember feeling in that moment, we have smashed this for them – go team!

What are you most looking forward to in 2024?

I have already spoken to so many of my couples who are all so nice and so amazing, so I am really excited to work with them more in the lead up to their day and be there for them on the best day of their lives.

Thank you Izzy for answering our questions, we look forward to another busy year!

Thank you for having me. It has been lovely to look back through pictures and remember such a fun year, and I am super excited to see what 2024 has in store!

Thank you to Sarah Legge Photography, Two D Photography and Matt Trott Photography for the amazing pictures!
