Winter weddings hold a special place in our hearts here at Micklefield Hall. The twinkling fairy lights, the roaring fires in the Garden Room and Orangery keeping the guests toasty warm. A different kind of romance than we see in our Summer garden weddings.
The light in Winter is always something to write home about. The glow against the frosty mornings, accompanied by the anticipation of the exciting day ahead.
Ella and Aaron celebrated their marriage in a traditional Jewish wedding in December. Captured by the talented Claudine Hartzel Photography, their special day was one for the memory books.
Bridal and Groom’s Preparations
Both bridal parties bundled into Micklefield Hall filled with so much joy and excitement. There was matching PJs for the girls and rather glamourous matching boxers for the boys.
The bridal suite and groom’s rooms were both buzzing from the minute they arrived, their smiles in the photos below were just beaming all day. Ella and her bridesmaids enjoyed a quick wonder around the grounds before the boys arrived, lapping up that Winter sunlight and getting the most gorgeous bridal prep shots. Once they were ready, the boys enjoyed a very merry Tisch in the Groom’s Room whilst Ella made her way to the Orangery for a traditional pre-ceremonial Bedecken.

The couple opted for a traditional pre-ceremonial Bedecken which took place in our Orangery. It was the perfect location for the event which was beautifully dressed by Flowers by Alina with rich, dark greens and whites.
Aaron joined Ella and her family after his Tisch, lifting her veil elegantly to reveal his beaming bride.
Once the ceremony was complete, the bridal parties headed into position ready for the ceremony itself!
The Ceremony
The Great Barn filled with Ella and Aaron’s bubbly guests as they took their seats. A grand Chuppah stood proudly at the front of the barn, ready to take center stage for the traditional Jewish ceremony.
The team at Flowers by Alina had dressed the Chuppah in beautiful dark greens and whites which perfectly complimented the bridal party’s outfits and the hanging chandeliers which were dressed by Andrew Fleming with white wisteria.
As the ceremony commenced so did the celebrations that followed, with the symbolic glass smashing and the newlyweds sneaking off to their Yichud, which took place in the bridal suite.
The Yichud
The Yichud is the perfect time for the bride and groom to sneak away from their wedding guests. Ella and Aaron chose to have this part of their wedding in the bridal suite where the caterers, Jasmine Catering, had provided nibbles and drinks for them to enjoy whilst doing their final signings.
Ella enjoyed some small touch ups, after the emotional ceremony, before the couple headed into their reception.
The Reception
Sticking with tradition, the couple and their guests enjoyed delicious canapes and cocktails provided by Jasmine Caterers. Which was then followed by a tasty three-course wedding breakfast in the Great Barn.
The Twentys Band kept the dancefloor alive for the whole of the dinner, with traditional Israeli dancing.
My Own Illustrator had been carefully creating beautiful artwork which carried on into the evening for the guests to enjoy.
The evening was filled with emotional speeches, energetic dancing and delicious food – what more could you want?

Ella and Aaron’s special day was one to remember. We worked alongside the wonderful team at Uptown Events to help create their perfect day. From the smiles beaming through the photos, we think we did!
The couple were kind enough to send a thoughtful message of thanks through to the team.
“As you may remember, we had previously booked another wedding venue, which fell through. As they say, everything is meant to be, and as soon as we walked into Micklefield on our first visit, Aaron turned to me and said “this is meant to be our venue, I would pick this over the other place any day”.
You made such a stressful time for us so peaceful, easy, and really joyful that we had found somewhere so amazing. But more than that, we have the possibly rare insight of being able to directly compare our experience with two venues, and the contrast couldn’t be more – everything that was treated as a problem at the previous venue, every question that they struggled to be able to answer, and every time they didn’t make us feel like our wedding was important to them, could not be more opposite to our experience at Micklefield Hall.
We were immediately impressed by the depth of knowledge of the staff, the care, attention to detail, and real value placed on making all the aspects of our day and the lead up so, so special. You even let us do our engagement shoot on the beautiful grounds, as we wanted to get some photos that we knew we wouldn’t be able to get in December. We truly are so grateful for everything. No suggestions, just keep on being amazing and showing so much love and care to your couples!”
