Micklefield Hall fully backs and supports the What About Weddings campaign, as our country eagerly awaits the roadmap out of lockdown. The #WhatAboutWeddings Campaign highlights awareness for the critical need for assistance and clarity for both the £14.7bn, seasonal wedding sector, as it navigates the issues and complexities of pandemic restrictions, and the half a million couples who are now waiting for restrictions to ease so that they can get married.
The #WhatAboutWeddings campaign is asking the Government to address three important points:
1. Reopening – safe incremental increase in guest numbers or capacity with social distancing
2. Support – financial support for all those in the sector
3. Insurance – support for consumers and wedding businesses in the absence of available insurance cover
On February 9th 2021, the UK Wedding Industry wrote an open letter to the Prime Minister asking for Urgent Financial Support and Clarity for the Wedding Industry.
Today (16th February 2021), the #whataboutweddings campaign group wrote to the Prime Minister, asking for COVID secure weddings to be brought back as soon as possible.

“Please help us gain traction and be heard, so that we can elevate the status of our campaign and lobby together as one, strong, cohesive sector, recognised for it’s talent and expertise, the thousands of livelihoods that are dependent on it and the many billions it contributes to the UK economy annually. Your voice counts. Make it heard.”
Owner of Micklefield Hall, Anna Rankin commented….
We are desperate to bring back weddings to Micklefield Hall! With all our COVID secure systems in place (including lateral flow testing, if that is what the government require) we know that we can run weddings very safely and securely here. So, COME ON BORIS – please help our sector to get back on its feet and announce a sensible road map for the resumption of weddings as soon as possible. We need to ensure that all our brides and grooms get the wedding of their dreams this summer.
